Assalamu alaykum
A text I recieved from a sister… brought back memories of how close we used to be:
The greatness of Sisterhood in Islam is such that what one desire for themselves they wish upon their sister. Their honour is one, their zeal is one, and their aim is one. May you and I be granted place close to one another in the gardens beneath which rivers flow as Allah says that is the supreme success! I think of you continuously may Allah enable me to be close to you for eternity.
How I miss the sisterhood we felt so strong, while it lasted it was like ecstasy filling our heart and soul with pure bliss. Contentment with every breath, knowing the company who I had so much comfort in will also be there for me in heart and spirit.
The smallest gesture can open a window of hope. A sister is always in need of a cheer up; give them a cheer up call.
Pick up the phone, call up someone who you havent spoken to in a while, see the difference in your relationship. Keep the ties of kinship and the ties of love, of sisterhood. You never know when you may need a quick cheer up call. 😉

Assalaamu ‘alaikum.
I love this post.. Very hearty indeed. SubhaanAllaah, the sisterhood in my community is SO lacking. I don’t know why this is!
Make du’aa for us..

Walaykum as salam sis
Spread sisterhood/brotherhood through salam. Its funny how people react when you give them salam:
Sister 1:
Me: Assalamu alaykum *smile 🙂 *
Sister: *do I know you… nutta!!!*
Sister 2:
Me: Assalamu alaykum *smile 🙂 *
Sister: *looks around*… *thinks – was that to me….hmmm I must know that sis.. or do I… Im confused 😕 😮 !!*
Sister 3:
Me: Assalamu alaykum *smile 🙂 *
Sister: wa alaykum as salam *Thinks – who da hell are you! 😮 *
Sister 4
Me: Assalamu alaykum *smile 🙂 *
Sister: Walaykum as salam ya ukhti, *BIG GRIN 😀 * how are you long time no see!
Me: HUH!!!! What da……! *Thinks-Do I know YOU?! 😮 *
Sister 5:
Me: Assalamu alaykum *smile 🙂 *
Sister: *Thinks – errr… she knows I aint Mooslem!.. oh well I should smile so she leaves me alone* *sheepish smile 🙂 *
Sister 6:
Me: Assalamu alaykum *smile 🙂 *
Sister: *Thinks-awww that sis is so sweet, I am so glad someone smiled at me, Ive been feeling so down latly* *Big grin 😀 *

Fajr
Aww mashaa’Allaah great post 🙂
It’s sad when you don’t get a reply to the salaam. Whenever I get blanks I reply back to myself, ‘wa ‘alaykumusalaam ya Fajr rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh!’ It’s somewhat comforting lol
My friend tries harder, she shouts out the salaam again
Btw, ya bint Yaqub you’ve been tagged 🙂 see here: http://www.fajr.wordpress.com 😉

Salaam,
I just wanna test some stuff on your blog if you don’t mind. You do know me bintyaqub.
About giving salaam it’s only sister’s who react like that – not bros. I do think its weird when bros give salaam. But they’re more likely to say salaam to a strange sis sincerely than sisters are.
luv u

Assalamu alaykum
I think its something which can happen with both brothers and sisters not necessarily only stereoptyped as a sister only thing. Sincerity is in the heart and cannot be seen so its hard to judge if someone is being sincere or not.
It is wierd, you know at times I feel non muslim areas are friendlier then some Muslim areas (note I am not generalising, it happens only sometimes).
At work, for instance, I get more smiles and hellos from non Muslims then I do from Muslims, it is very disheartening and you can just feel the sisterhood and unity drifting away, really does bring tears to my eyes and a sadness to my heart.
