QUICK REMINDER

 from Sh Tawfique

…..

My brothers and sisters – times like this it is prudent to remind ourselves that human beings are such fragile creatures. We may build towering structures and traverse the seas and ascend the heavens to outerspace – but a single splinter in our foot can take all enjoyment away and a single grain of sand in our eyes can be enough to blind us and take all attention away! Let us remind ourselves of what Allah tells us in the Quran:

 “And mankind was indeed created weak!”

Sahih Bukhari
Volume 2, Book 24, Number 504:

Narrated Abu Huraira (ra):

The Prophet (salallaho alaihi wasallam) said, “Seven people will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the
day when there will be no shade except His. They are:

(1) a just ruler;

(2) a young man who has been brought up in the worship of Allah, (i.e. worship Allah (Alone) sincerely from
his childhood),

(3) a man whose heart is attached to the mosque (who offers the five compulsory congregational prayers in the mosque);

(4) two persons who love each other only for Allah’s sake and they meet and part in Allah’s cause only;

(5) a man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for an illegal sexual intercourse with her
and says: I am afraid of Allah;

(6) a person who practices charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has
given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity).

(7) a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes get flooded with tears.”

Abu al-Darda’a radiallahu ‘anhu said:

Three things made me laugh & three things made me cry:

The three who made me laugh are:

1. A person who has long high hopes In this Life while death is looking for him

2. A person who is Unthinking while he is being watched and observed by Allah

3. A person who Laughs while he does not know whether Allah is pleased with him or not

The three that made me cry are :

1. The hardship and the scary scene of the Day of Judgment!!!

2. The inability to make any more good deeds after death

3. My standing before Allah while not knowing whether I am going to heaven or to Hellfire!!!

[Siyar al-A’lam wa Al-Nubala 3/134]

The contemplative believer who remembers God will begin to enjoy solitude and places of seclusion where voices and movements are hushed… There he will find strength of heart and will, and he will no longer be worried or depressed… Then he will begin to taste the sweetness of worship, of which he cannot have enough. In it, he will find abundance of pleasure and comfort – more than what he used to find in diversion and play, or in the satisfaction of wordly desires…When he experiences this state, many of the wordly concerns will disappear, as he is in a completely different world from the rest of humanity.
